En la Orilla (At the Edge) was filmed in Agua Verde, Baja California Sur, Mexico. Agua Verde is a small (~250 person) fishing village several hours from the nearest city, surrounded by coastal mountains and the waters of the Gulf of California. The film follows Gaspar, a local fishermen, and his family, as they struggle to make ends meet while waiting for the next big catch. The film conveys the natural beauty of both the region and the act of fishing, as well as the hardships that accompany living in such an isolated place with limited access to livelihoods other than fishing.
